What this is

Coverage requirements for visa and residence applications. The page does not constitute binding legal advice; for case-specific guidance, see our paid legal consultation service.

Why it matters for Pakistani applicants

Each Ukrainian procedure has a specific intersection with Pakistani documentation requirements — apostille via MoFA, HEC verification where applicable, sworn translation in Ukraine. Skipping any link in that chain produces refusal at the consular stage. This page describes the chain.

How we use this in practice

Our intake checklists reference this page directly. When we open a file, the steps described here are the steps we execute. Where the page is silent, we resolve case-by-case through the engagement.

Medical insurance is a standard requirement for Ukrainian visa applications and TRP files. The policy must cover the full intended period of stay and must be valid in Ukraine.

For type D visa applications, the consulate requires a medical insurance policy with a minimum coverage amount (typically equivalent to EUR 30,000 for medical and emergency repatriation). The policy must cover Ukraine specifically — some global policies exclude active conflict zones, which is a significant issue given the current situation in Ukraine.

For TRP applications, medical insurance is included in the standard document checklist. The policy should cover the full duration of the TRP being applied for. At renewal, a new policy covering the new period is required.

Insurance can be obtained from Pakistani insurers that provide international coverage, or from Ukrainian or international insurers operating in Ukraine. The policy document must name the insured person, specify Ukraine as the coverage territory, and show the coverage period and amount.

Read the policy exclusions carefully. Policies that exclude war, conflict, or civil unrest may effectively provide no coverage in the current Ukrainian environment. Confirm with the insurer in writing that the policy covers medical treatment in Ukraine in the current situation.

The translation requirement: if the insurance policy is not in Ukrainian, a certified Ukrainian translation is required for TRP submission. Check whether your insurer can provide a Ukrainian-language policy document directly.
