Do I need to be in Ukraine to apply for a TRP?
Yes. A TRP application is made in person at the regional State Migration Service (DMSU) office after you have entered Ukraine on a valid type D long-stay visa.
Can I apply for a TRP on a tourist visa?
No. Tourist visas (type B) do not allow TRP applications. You must enter on a type D visa that corresponds to your intended basis (employment, study, family, or business).
How long does a TRP take to be issued?
After complete submission at the DMSU, a decision is typically issued within 10–15 working days. A biometric residence card is produced and collected after the decision.
What is the TRP tied to?
A TRP is always tied to an underlying ground — a work permit, enrolment confirmation, founder/director status, or family relationship. If the underlying ground lapses, the TRP basis lapses with it.
Can my spouse and children join me on TRP?
Yes. Once your TRP is issued, your spouse and minor children can apply for a family-reunification TRP. They must enter on a type D visa and file separately at the DMSU.
What happens if I miss the TRP renewal deadline?
A late renewal is treated as a new application from scratch. You may also be in an overstay situation, which triggers administrative consequences. Begin the renewal process at least 30 days before expiry.
Does a TRP allow me to travel outside Ukraine and re-enter?
A TRP holder may travel and re-enter, but extended absences (typically over 6 months for a single trip) can affect TRP status and the eventual pathway to permanent residence.
